Shantell Martin - Follow the Pen

Artist Shantell Martin draws stream-of-consciousness drawings on walls, cars, shoes, shirts, motorcycle helmets, pianos and more, often in front of live audiences. Her goal: Make and share visuals that are recognizably hers.
Martin explains her process and her visual language of line drawings, influenced by her experience as an avant-garde live-performance artist in Japan, in the 2013 profile by The New Yorker. (source)

*What studio in this art room would Shantell Martin use to best express her ideas?
*What life events changed the size/scale of her drawings?
*What does she use to "direct people where to look"?
*Martin uses mainly pen and paint pens to create lines, watch closely, what other medium does she use to draw?

"I come to a drawing with intention, a good intention to make something work"
-Shantell Martin

*It takes a lot of practice and experience for it to "just work"!

*Think about how you might store this inspiration in your creativity bank account?

Weaving - Bootcamp

Nathalie Miebach's colorful sculptures look like children’s toys gone awry, as if the designer inlcuded far too many twists and turns for a child to possibly follow. It would make sense that these twisted routes would throw one off course, as they are modeled from scientific data pulled from wind patterns, often from storms, gales or blizzards. Miebach translates this numbers and weather information into forms and structures that mimic the twirling motions of the invisible weather they aim to imitate. (source)
